2/11/2024 0 Comments Paypal transaction fee 1.00![]() ![]() If they blow it and don't "Complete" it within the allotted time (I think every card has a different amt of days, some as little as 3) it drops off, and disappears, you don't see it again. When they go in and do 49.99 for your SHOES for example, (on PP debits) they have 5 days to complete it. Even the VALID ones.Ī charge has two parts, and authorization and a completion. MANY retailers do this, just to make sure the card number and expiration date are valid. PayPal $1 Validation Charge Upsets eBay Buyer Trapped in the 7th Circle of eBay/PayPal Hell This corporation epitomizes a complete lack of professionalism and utter absence of respect for their customers. Another plan to bring down DSR rating and eliminate still more seller discounts and drive more buyers to other venues. Once again the eBay and PayPal cartel institute a major, game changing policy with NO prior announcements or explanations to buyers or sellers. Buyers might also think their PayPal account has been hacked. Not only will those sellers - I presume this only affects we undesirable small flea market type sellers - who have merchant credit/debit card accounts have many of their automatic 5 star Communication ratings ruined, buyers could easily conclude the seller is dishonest for adding this extra $1.00 and give business killing feedback. Or perhaps they do and do so quite intentionally. While I commend PayPal for attempting to stop fraud, PayPal once again demonstrates its lack of understanding or concern about the consequences that these shoot from the hip new policies create. This unannounced change ought to stir up a hornet's nest, and I'll bet sellers who accept credit/debit cards directly will just love answering the questions this procedure creates especially in light of new star policy on post sale communications through the eBay messaging system. When I logged into my PayPal account, there was no indication that the $1.00 "card checking fee" had ever been debited or credited back. He assured me that this $1.00 charge was immediately removed from my account. The seller courteously replied that PayPal/eBay is now validating credit/debit cards with these $1.00 charges. I immediately emailed the seller through the eBay messaging system as I had no direct email address to ask what this $1.00 charge was for. Within minutes I received a PayPal receipt for the total cost of the item and a second receipt for $1.00 also payable to the seller. Once the sales tax was added, the total came to less than $15.00. I purchased a vintage item costing less than $10.00. Whether this is something new or due to lack of recent card use on eBay, I knew nothing about nor do I recall reading anything about this problematic and apparently new PayPal practice. I haven't paid for anything on eBay lately with a credit or debit card, but earlier this week I did - ironically with a PayPal debit card - and discovered something I wasn't aware of.
